Shelf Control #6

This meme hosted by Bookshelf Fantasies is so cool! From the original post:

“Shelf Control picks will be books that I already own — either physical copies from my overflowing shelves, or one of the many unread titles elbowing each other out of the way on my Kindle.”

What will be included in each post is:

  • Title metadata (essentially)
  • How I got it
  • When I got it
  • Why I want to read it

You can find last week’s post here.

Without further ado, I present you this week’s pick!

31194576. sy475 Title: Release

Author: Patrick Ness

Publisher: Walker Books

Year Published: 2017

Synopsis: It’s Saturday, it’s summer and, although he doesn’t know it yet, everything in Adam Thorn’s life is going to fall apart. Relationships will change, he’ll change, but maybe, just maybe, he’ll find freedom in the release.

Time is running out though, because way across town a ghost as risen from the lake. Searching, yearning, she leaves a trail of destruction in her wake…

(Taken from Goodreads)

How I got it: A friend gifted it to me!

When I got it: Last year (2019).

Why I want to read it: My friend warmly recommended it, and I was intrigued by the ghostly element. I’m not sure if this book is introspective, supernatural, a thriller, or all of the above! The genre blending seems really cool. And have you seen how cool is the cover?! The path is made by two profiles.

Any books sitting on your shelves you’re itching to read? Tell me about them in the comments!

I’ve set up a ko-fi account to support my book expenses, as finances are a bit uncertain due to covid. No worries if you can’t donate right now! Take care of yourself 💗

  1. Oh, cool – I wouldn’t have seen the profiles in the image if you hadn’t pointed them out! I’ve read other Patrick Ness books and really liked his writing. Will have to look for this one!
